01:02 PM ET 04.22 | This year was supposed to be different for the Edmonton Oilers, yet it was much of the same as it ever was. The Oilers have been eliminated from the playoff race and will miss the postseason for the seventh straight season, after the talented and young team was expected to lead things in a different direction in Edmonton. Instead, changes were made in the front office and now decisions have to be made about the path the team is on and how best to improve a team that already possesses a number of top draft picks on the roster.

QUOTE(#3):

They should trade for a top-pair d-man, like they did with Pronger. That worked out great! They even made the Cup finals. And absolutely nothing bad happened after that. Nothing at all.

That's not what Mrs Pronger says...

It's okay. Kevin Lowe's still around to make it all better.

yup. Him and his 6 Stanley Cup rings that he won ALL BY HIMSELF.

me thinks the owner ought to stop taking the fans for granted and hire someone that has a clue what he's doing. Holmgren might need a gig this summer....(combo philly/edmonton tweak)

Thanks to HC for intoducing to us the name "Duhryl" as in Sutter. Well there is a new Duhryl in town and his name is Katz. As long as his good buddy Lowe is running his team The Oilers are ****ed and as Lowe likes to put it so are the tier 1 and tier 2 fans in Edmonton

No tweak taken. I'd be thrilled to see Snider get a real GM in town.

Oilers not making playoffs is a thread?
Keep your eyes open for tomorrow's threads:
Flyers have orange jerseys.
Florida teams deal with Humidity.
Paulina Gretzky makes her Dad un-proud.
