06:16 PM ET 04.22 | The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly signed safety Kam Chancellor to a four-year contract extension, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com on Monday. The report states that Chancellor's contract is worth $28 million over its length, with a whopping $17 million guaranteed. Chancellor was already under contract for 2013, so he will remain with the team through the 2017 season. As noted by Field Gulls, the team has announced a press conference for 2 p.m. pacific, where they will likely announce the deal. Chancellor, 25, is just one part of one of the NFL's top secondaries. The unit improved dramatically with the addition of Antoine Winfield to lock up slot receivers behind Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman, two young corners who are establishing themselves among the NFL's elite.

Seattle's secondary is so nasty...

Sigh. As a Cowboys fan, I'm pretty jealous.

Good move. The whole secondary is big except for the strong safety.

You mean except for Free Safety?

Chancellor is the SS and he's 6 foot 3, 232 pounds. Big dude.

Earl Thomas is the FS, and although he's just 5 foot 10, 202 pounds he can stay lay the wood on folks.

Thunder and Lightning. I wouldn't want to get hit by either one of them, but Thomas shakes the fillings out of his victims. Regularly.

Here's where it gets scary for the USCHawks as all these young talents start coming up for big raises. Thomas and Okung next season Sherman next and then Wilson Irvin & Wagner

"Chancellor...is just one part?" This man is the key component to Seattle's vaunted defense. Hence, the "whopping $17M guaranteed," indicating the tremendous confidence Carroll & Schneider have in Kam.
