07:03 AM ET 04.23 | As hard as it might be to top 2013 at Louisville -- from basketball (men's and women's) to football -- the momentum makes for heady days. "There are big things happening here," said safety Calvin Pryor, a rising junior. "We're at a special place right now, best athletic program in the nation." ... It's part of what junior guard Russ Smith is weighing right now as he debates whether he's going to stay in the NBA draft or return to school for his senior season. Smith said he'll sit down with men's basketball coach Rick Pitino today, sleep on the information he gets and make a final decision on Wednesday. Smith, who led the Cardinals in scoring with 18.7 points per game, said it was easily the toughest decision he's ever had to make.

Wow, Louisville BB is a HOT topic! Everyone can't wait to post their opinions.

LUS > Arky in baseball, too! :-(

i know....baseball is SUCH a more popular sport

UL is THE best college athletic program right now......having Russ for one more year would teach the incoming guards how to play Cardinal defense

Smith is an undersized PG who would make a good backup ala Nate Robinson. He can play defense, and get in the lane. His problem will be refs in the NBA calling the handchecking that is acceptable in college, but not in the pros.

Lebron James is an odd topic for these two to be discussing...

Inside joke, Newbie.......

As for your last comment.....no, they are not. How do you want to measure success? Championships? Money? Prestiege? Any way you want to slice it. Louisville isn't #1.

Congrats on a good year in bball, and congrat on holding on to really good CFB coach. Don't jump over-board beyond that....k?

Seriously? I can't remember the last time I saw a 'hand-check that was called in the NBA.....unless the defender was checking with BOTH hands....

Smith needs to stay in for his senior year. Everyone knows he can score, but the jury is still out as to whether he can actually shoot.....only 32% from 3-point this season. Also, he averaged about 2.9 assists with 2.7 turnovers per game. He needs to show that he can effectively facilitate an offense.

Basically, he still needs to show that he's more Chris Paul (bonifide point guard) than an undersized Monta Ellis (low efficiency scoring, shooting guard).

Agree he needs to stay one more year. He needs to bring his APG up, as well as shooting %.

Louisville is THE #1 College Basketball Athletic program in basketball revenue. The #1 in Men's basketball (Women's Runner Up), and the only team to be in the Final Four AND win a BCS game (after the smackdown of UF). I simply said they were the best RIGHT NOW......of course that will change. Which athletic department is seeing more success right now?

#1 basketball revenue is $38 million. #1 football revenue (Texas) is $133 million....almost a $100 million difference.

Florida men and Stanford women's programs won the Capital One cups . Alabama has won 2 of the last 3 BCS titles.

IMO, all of these are having more success that Louisville.........again, props for winning an NCAA bball championship, but don't get carried away with "best of the best".

LSU---not getting carried away....just good convo. As of today, UL is #3 (IU and Mich tied for #1) in the Cap One standings. Don't think either one of them won a BCS game, did they? Heck, IU will prob never see a BCS game aside from their couches. What are the two most watched sports in college? Mens Football, Mens basketball. NO other team was in the FF, AND won a BCS game. How did Texas (#1 fball rev) do this year? Not even Top 25 in Cap One Cup, 9-4. I think UL gets the nod there.

Football revenue? NO WAY UL would EVER reach Texas level. Too much money in the TV deals.

Just thinking overall right now UL is at the top of college athletics, yea....i'm a fan, but i still can't see anyone else that has more achievements at the major sport level than UL right now.

Guess we'll just agree to disagree.......alot more AD's would love to trade their progrAms for Gump, Texas, Florida, Michigan et al than Louisville.

welcome to FN, Cap'nagree.......welcome to FN, Cap'n

Thx LSU----understand the longevity of those storied programs makes their pedigree better. ULs stock may be rising, but the others you mentioned are already solid. Cheers!

FWIW, I'm only part swamp-aggie, on my wife's side. I'm a razorback at heart. I lost a bet with an LSU regular on here on the Arknasas vs LSU baseball series....as loser, I have to sport a name and picture of his choice for a week.

Oddly, he's a Capn N coke fan, so I'm sure you'll hear from him soon enough.....

Again, welome to the nut house...hope you stick around a while..........

I will attest that he's a hawg caller who lost a bet with LUS (I garontee!).
