Will Mike Brown bring a title to Cleveland?

06:52 PM ET 04.23 | Jason Lloyd, writer for the Akron Beacon Journal, has announced that sources have told him that Mike Brown has emerged as the favorite to become the next head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and a deal has been agreed upon. This is a huge deal for Cleveland if it follows through. Question marks will rise as to why nobody else was interviewed for the position. It was said that Phil Jackson had no interest in the position, and other candidates like Mike Malone and Brian Shaw had interviewed for the Cleveland job in the past. I feel like this move was made so quick because Brown was up for other jobs, like Philadelphia and possibly Atlanta, and our front office didn't want to risk losing Brown in fear of other candidates not fitting the position. Overall, this is a good hire for Dan Gilbert and the Cavaliers. Several things are different from when Brown was here the first time. Instead of having an offense of LeBron James, Brown has much more to work with. His defense will speak for itself, and he will have much more control instead of kissing the behind of one player.

Factory of Sadness?

WTH?

Oh my goodness! No wonder the Cavs suck so bad. They have no idea what they're doing. Kyrie should get out of there on the first thing smoking.

I'm going to say no that Brown won't bring the Cavs a title. Boy Cav fans are setting themselves up for another big fall.

That's because it is.

Geez, is Mark Cuban running the Cavs now? This move is dumb enough to be a 'Cuban'.

This just means that Lebron is never ever going back to Cleveland. Maybe Jim Buss is managing the Cavs.

Smart move to rehire Mike Brown. With the current roster, nope. Adding 1 or 2 very good max players (preferably allstars in their prime) to team up with Irving and TT.., there will be a title in Cleveland finally.

Ouch...LOL

where are these magical max players in their primes coming from?this move makes no sense as we last saw the coach running a Princeton offense, which takes the ball out of the hands of the guards. how in the world will this work here when their best player is a guard who can't do anything but score?

They would come by free agency and trade of course! If you have not noticed, Mike Brown is a defensive minded coach, something that Bryon Scott was not. So he will get Irving better on defence just like he did with Lebron. As far as his Princeton offense is concernced, Mike Brown must have did something right with all of those wins with the sorry roster and 1 superstar not in his prime. (As many of you pointed this out)..

no big time FA has gone to cleveland.....ever, why would they go now?and brown is a JOKE around the nba.....he is a good defensive coach, but his escapades in LA have exposed that he simply is not a good leader of men. it is an embarrassment that snyder re-hired him after firing him

Yet another delusional comment from yo mouth.... The Reason Brown didn't work out in LA is the same reason D'Antoni isn't going to work out in LA. Both of their offensive schemes don't fit the personnel. Both offensive schemes focus on ball movement and with LA everybody knew that wouldn't work with Kobe not willing to pass the rock. Brown wasn't exposed, he was sabotaged by Kobe. Anyone with real sense knows this. No coach in the league can get Kobe to conform to their system. Put Brown on a team that doesn't have a diva superstar and watch him florish. Brown inherits a young Cavs team with a PG who can make things happen. He will do well in Cleveland.

This should be an interesting test for MB. I don't think LA was ever a fair chance for him. We'll see what he can do.

Ha ha ha ha. We already saw what he could do. And it wasn't good.

This is one of the weirdest firing's and hirings. Guy was let go after having like a 60 win season and then was brought back to make a 20 something win team better. MB didn't get a fair shake in LA this year but he tried to bring in an offense system that didn't fit his team at all. As a coach you have to be an X's and O's guy, motivator and leader. I don't think he really commanded respect over Kobe and is only a defensive guy so he might do OK for the Cav's but they still need players

Well, he has a career W/L record of 314/167, and not counting this year where he was fired after 5 games, he has taken his teams to the 2nd round of the playoffs or higher each year. Hard to find another coach that is available with that type of success.
