Worst draft in a decade (or more)

06:57 AM ET 04.24 | During the run-up to the draft, analysis extends from the individual players to the draft pool itself. Opinions are like, well, you know. But a high-ranking team executive I trust implicitly says this: "Worst draft in past 10 years or longer." "When we look back at this draft in five or 10 years," said the team executive, "we might view it as one of the worst we've seen in some time." What I'm hearing repeatedly from some team personnel men, as the draft gets closer and the honesty increases, is that this draft is subpar. Extremely subpar. Few team personnel want to say anything publicly about the paucity of talent out of fear of hearing from the NFL.

May be more than ten years... I don't recall a draft with NO big names going first. No suspense at all it seems... But hell.. That's just me.

Wouldn't it be something if three or four all time great linemen came out of this draft? Like 1983 for QBs, this could be the Great Trenches Draft of 2013.

Nice to see the photo of Baddell in his cap and gown, receiving his diploma from Clown College.

He graduated with a B.S. in B.S.

The Patriots have traded away picks for this draft. Normally, they go in with a lot of them. There's a reason they shorted themselves this year.

Some teams do their homework.

Not even 8 AM and we've got the Post of the Day.

All that's missing is the white face paint and the red, round, rubber nose.

I'd like to see that. No superstars, no divas, just good solid hard-working guys. Bring some respect back to the league.

Hopefully the Cowboys draft a couple of them.

This is why the new CBA with the lower rookie salaries makes sense. At least not paying the #1 $$ like a couple of years ago.

Which is also part of the reason that veteran contracts are on the rise.

Posted on wrong thread. Jeesh!

It is a far better QB draft than that 2010 circus that after Bradford ( a slightly above average QB) produced Tebow, Claussen, McCoy , Kafka, Skelton and Crompton, in that order through round five.

Grab all the fat boys you can get and a QB in round two if you need one.

NFL Network has to be thrilled that they have their prime time extranvaganza all ready to roll and it's a fat boy draft that will produce some solid performers whom you will rarely hear about after they leave the podium.

I think Goodell should wear this outfit at the draft tomorrow night

Why are people so obsessed about quality? That draft excelled in comedy.

Can't win it all without the big boys upfront...get 'em while you can!

Yes it did. And still, teams will claim how happy they are to have the guys they take in round two and three fall to them because they had first round value on their boards....

They will drag this out for hours, right? Why not have Goofdell in a different outfit for each pick? Choir Boy. Elvis. Richard Simmons. Gump Worsely. He could be a 1-man costume party.

Kinda like the Academy Awards, eh... Don't watch that, either.

Might the right time for the Giants to start grooming a young QB behind Eli.
