02:34 PM ET 04.25 | The Winnipeg Jets could decide the Eastern Conference playoff picture on Thursday night. Winnipeg will be concluding their regular season schedule against the Montreal Canadiens. If they lose in regulation, their season will be over. Currently trailing the eighth seed by a single point, the team needs two points to keep their playoff hopes alive. Int he event of a loss, the New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators will clinch spots. In the event of a non-shootout win, Winnipeg will put themselves in the best position they can, at this point. A non-shootout win would increase their ROW --regulation and overtime victories-- to 23, which is more than Ottawa or New York can earn (both can reach a maximum of 22). In the event of a tie, ROW is the first tiebreaker.

seems like winnipeg has failed to win every 'must win' game this season (most against the caps), don't see how tonight is any different

Far from decided even if the Jets lose tonight...still have the order of finish to play out.

I hope the Jets finish 8th it would be nice for the Pens to sweep them and have some rest before round 2.

Maybe let one go to overtime if they can't win? But, I'm more like DWI. I won't relax if the Caps play the ECHL farm team of the Little Sisters of the Poor. We might be able to beat anyone on a given day...........we can lose too.
