05:05 PM ET 04.26 | ESPN's NFL Draft overlord Mel Kiper Jr. posted his reactions to the first-round selections (Insider access required) of the 2013 NFL Draft very early Friday morning, listing the picks he liked and the decisions he found to be a little more questionable. First, the positives. Kiper believes that the Pittsburgh Steelers got fantastic value in selecting Georgia Bulldogs outside linebacker Jarvis Jones with the 17th overall pick. Jones was atop Kiper's Big Board for a long time before underwhelming showings at the NFL Combine and his pro day workout caused him to slip.

Pittsburgh went with need as Cincy went with BPA. so the Steelers made a good pick. And the Rams got another target for thier QB.

I think everybody believes the Steelers got fantastic value in Jarvis Jones. I do. Hey, look, I'm a draft overlord.

So how often do Mel Kiper's winners and losers translate into the real thing?

Does anyone ever go back and double-check these predictions?

That's the beauty of a job like that. You can rip a team, talk a player up, whatever... and by the time we know the truth no remembers what the hell you said. Predictions with zero accountability. It's like the weather man.

Kiper is the ultimate NFL draft ****. If he had 1/10th the knowledge of predicting success for these draftees that he thinks he does he would be gainfully employed by one or more teams. As it is he has missed the boat so often he should change his name to Gilligan.

I respectfully disagree and I think he probably pulls down as much or more than an NFL team would pay him without the stress or workload.
