07:51 PM ET 04.26 | Early in March it was rumored that Flip Saunders could replace Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn. That's exactly what is about to happen. "Saunders, 58, has been negotiating a contract that, with option years, could run through the 2017-18 season and could be worth more than $9 million over the full five years," according to league sources who requested anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss the hiring. It was somewhat surprising when Saunders reportedly turned down an opportunity to coach the Minnesota Gophers late in March. It is possible that Saunders turned down the "U" in order to accept this job with the Timberwolves? Saunders had quietly been serving as a consultant for team owner Glen Taylor on the basketball team during the 2012 season, according Sid Hartman of the Star Tribune.

Wow, all the early comments - across all the NBA posts this morning - are from people whose handle names start with vowels.

Let me see if I can change that.

QUOTE(#2):

Well, since Saunders has a history with the team, he does deserve the nod over Adelman, who is a newcomer to the organization.Of course, as a coach, Adelman is better than Saunders. As a GM, Adelman may also be better. However, seniority rules.

Incompetence should trump seniority. Flip has been a flop his entire career.
