09:47 AM ET 04.27 | The grudge Tony Sparano held after the Dolphins' surreptitious courting of Jim Harbaugh in early 2011 "damaged the whole organization," owner Stephen Ross said on Dan Le Batard's show on 790 The Ticket on Friday afternoon. He spoke in detail about the fractious relationship between Sparano and Ross and Jeff Ireland. Things, not surprisingly, went south once word leaked that the Dolphins owner flew to California's Bay Area to interview Harbaugh, even with Sparano still under contract. Harbaugh ultimately took San Francisco's top job; Ross believes he was used by Harbaugh's camp for leverage purposes. Even still, the damage with Sparano was irreparable. He was fired late the following season. "He could never put it behind him," Ross said. "I don't think he was the right head coach for the Miami Dolphins. I didn't hire him. We're a much better organization today than then."

If Tony thinks getting fired was bad just wait until PETA gets wind of this.

Looking at it another way, the players that Ross and Ireland gave Sparano to work with didn't help the situation, either. But, when the team "underperformed," the GM and owner are more likely to take it out on the coach than on themselves.

No, he just did not make it better. Mr. Stephen Ross, the owner since 2008, is the constant. Any damage done since then is his own fault. He is in charge and decides who works for him.

What a worm...Just say it to the media, the truth. " I, Stephen Ross, have made a lot of bad decisions as an owner. Hopefully I am getting it right now."

"I stuck a knife in his back and twisted, and the creep refused to forget it and act like we're buddies. Clearly an unreasonable man."

Steve Ross only has to look in the mirror, if he's looking for who Damaged The Dolphins!!!

April 27, 2013  11:37 AM ET

The scary part is he's still not the worst owner in Miami...

This Ross sounds like a jerk. He didn't deal honestly with Sparano, blames him for what transpired subsequently and somehow finds a way to trash Harbaugh as well. Of course, it doesn't help that he was talking to LeBatard. That's a jerk to jerk conversation.

Dang it, Raiders traded their pick. I wanted Okafor.

Nick Foles is concerned.

Even if Sparano was the one who "damaged" the Dolphins, what a CLASSLESS move by the owner calling him out in public. There's no reason he had to say all of that. A true professional wouldn't handle his business that way.

Drives me nuts...

Do Jerry Reese and Ozzie Newsome trade picks around? No - they take good football players

He was doomed the minute Chip Kelly was hired.

He just needs to keep working. His chance will come somewhere else.

Well, I can hope that Okafor is still there at #112.

There's certainly some teams that will have interest.
