Did Daniel Bard punch ticket back to minors?

10:55 AM ET 04.28 | A few days ago, after the Red Sox recalled Daniel Bard from Double-A Portland, manager John Farrell said the embattled right-hander would have a chance to "be a regular in our bullpen," even after several injured relievers return from the disabled list. But after Saturday night's eighth inning, Bard may already have punched his ticket to the minors. With the Red Sox leading the lowly Astros by five runs, Bard threw nine pitches, eight of which were balls. And after Bard walked both Carlos Pena and Carlos Corporan, Farrell had seen enough, yanking him from the game even though the lead wasn't in imminent danger. Bard was replaced by Alex Wilson, with whom he seemingly is jockeying for a seat in the bullpen after Joel Hanrahan (hamstring) and Craig Breslow (shoulder) return, and Wilson allowed an RBI single to Matt Dominguez before retiring three of the next four batters.

I'm still trying to figure out why they promoted him in the first place. It's not like he was tearing it up in AA.

I think they wanted to give him a chance being back with Farrell.

This guy was fine before the Sox tried to make him a starter. Let him pitch his way back. The team owes him that much.

Owes him?
How many blown game efforts is he owed?
It's professional BB; you are owed compensation and a chance to show you can play BB.
So far, Bard isn't earning his keep.

Shocking how far this guy has fallen off the proverbial cliff.

Because he was so good just a few years ago. Hard to forget his dominance.

Daniel Bard could be happily in the minors or,,,just trade him to another team WHO doesn't have anything to lose,,as the cubs/astros/angels/padres?? heck all this teams did had dreams, except all those dreams are in the past,,,

SHOCKING? about those careless angels?? i mean Daniel Bard its only one but halos are 25 players isn't?? now that's what i call shocking!!!

April 28, 2013  07:42 PM ET

but but the halos aren't feeling bad at all, after all the padres/astros/and cubs are a good core of teams, all of them in the last place, except all those teams do not have a big names like the halos do,,,

I think some time with Farrell would help.

I don't think the Red Sox nor Farrell have that luxury.
