Artest: Kings better without me

Asked after Monday's practice about first-year coach Reggie Theus and the job he's done this season, Ron Artest -- who said last week that he didn't see himself in the Kings' long-term plans -- said Theus and his team would be better off without him. "He's doing good; he's doing good," Artest said of Theus. "I just think they (the Kings) would be better if I wasn't on the team. I think (Theus) would be doing much better."

trade odom for artest and salmons

Self doubt is a killer to personal and team morale. The solution is rather simple: SHUT YOUR YAP AND PLAY!

Trade Vince Carter for Artest and Shareef

That post should actually read: Artest: NBA better without me.

Artest is going to be a Knick. That locker room is going to need Dr. Phil and fast.

Artest and Salmons on Lakers would be awesome but Kings wont include Salmons

Salmons is a diamond in rough

February 5, 2008  12:40 PM ET

Artest and Kenny Thomas wouldnt be bad since Kings want to dump both

For Odom and say a 2nd rounder or maybe Mihm

February 5, 2008  12:56 PM ET

Donny,
I agree. Salmons should make the lakers bench deeper definitely.
I think Luke for Flip Murray from Pistons will be a good steal as well (if at all possible) but he probably makes too much for the Lakers. Arrest and Salmons combined may just equal Odom in salaries. But each one of them is more motivated and competitive and definitely defend better than Odom. They both can pass fairly well. The only thing we might miss from Odom is the rebounding. Gasol should help with, right?

we don't need that cancer of Artest in L.A......

February 5, 2008  01:37 PM ET

Artest=team killer

send him to the Knicks with the rest of the team killers.

If it wasn't for the character issues, I'd say work a trade of Odom for Artest (and what ever pieces needed to make it happen) in a heartbeat. Artest, character issues aside, is the perfect player for the Lakers 3 spot now. Strong defender, who is a scoring threat (but doesn't have to in order to be happy/contribute), Rebounds well, can hit the 3. Perfect fit.

Of course, if it wasn't for the character issues, he'd be making allot more and probably wouldn't even be a realistic acquisition for the Lakers, at least without blow the luxury tax through the ceiling.

That being said, I don't have a problem keeping Odom, either.

Artest was quiet in Kings org, not like when he was with Pacers. I figure if he's like Moss or TO, he would behave in order to win a championship or just to contend.

But, I wouldn't trade Odom for Artest. Odom rebounds, passes, and runs the break well as a SF.

right justice and artest could rebound just as well as odom when motivated and is just as versatile with better d..plus salmons gives the laker another shooter who could help with the offense when kobe is resting..

i think that they should trade artest and thomas for szerbiak with a 2nd round pick.

February 11, 2008  03:08 PM ET

artest and thomas for szerbiak. he is a high energy player and can flat out score when needed. good range and defensive intesity lost with trade. thomas is a lost cause better for some other team, and would also free up his contract. If needed to make deal sonic could throw in a first round pick, and kings could possibly get tyler hansboro from UNC. What do you think?

artest is going to the warriors... give it 2 days and he'll be in a warriors jersey, and piertus & possibly another warrior will be a king... lets just say i've got an insiders edge on this one, nuff said
