06:58 AM ET 04.29 | Given the chance over the weekend to entertain his future in Los Angeles, Dwight Howard said, "I haven't thought about it." Even if Howard wasn't telling the truth, he can't act on any decision he would make for more than two months; he becomes a free agent July 1. At that point, Howard can sign a five-year, $118 million contract to stay with the Lakers, or a four-year, $87.6 million deal with another team. ... According to several sources familiar with Howard's thinking, Howard will likely explore free agency before reaching his final decision. In today's media landscape, that means there will be a circus in July while Howard hears pitches from the likes of the Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

howard will never win a championship

Here's his chance to really explore the open market. He will have the final say but it's really up to the teams to make the final pitch. The Lakers will have to do something to make their roster better. Promising him the same cast of players will not help. If the Lakers make a strong commitment by amnestying Kobe, than there's a great chance that Dwight will stay. Amnestying Kobe gives the Lakers a lot of flexibility. This is where management have to make the tough decision of keeping Kobe or moving forward to make the Lakers relevant again in terms of wins...

I told everyone he would lose his cool and get kicked out.

What a truly pathetic effort by the Lakers.

I hope he makes a TV special to make his announcement.

Feel sorry for Lakers fans. The team was so injured, old, and slow. I couldn't even watch the game. Heard there was a Kobe sighting though.

Oops, I meant - Let the circus continue !

Aye that!

Looks like the curse I put on Dwight is working perfectly.

At least the Lakers are "committed to winning championships". You know.... unlike every other team who I guess are just playing for the fun of it. He also gets to wear purple headbands and take pictures in front of Shaq and Kareem jerseys. Seems like he made a great, well thought out choice.

I don't feel sorry for them at all. They've been too cocky and arogant. I only feel sorry for the fans who aren't blind.

truly pathetic showing, even with no backcourt, to lose every game in blowouts.
I would rather my prediction of LA choking the 8 seed away have come true than to get swept in blowout fashion in the first round.

Utah would have been swept, but I think Dallas might have at least gone 6 with SA.

They simply gave up. MWP didn't want to play at all so he took himself out, Dwight didn't want to play so he got himself ejected. Pau was the only one that showed up.
