Manuel will compete for starting job

01:32 PM ET 04.29 | E.J. Manuel has a lot of upside, but he's also one of the rawest QB prospects taken in this year's draft. That's not stopping the Bills from saying that he's in open competition for the starting job in 2013. They signed Kevin Kolb over the offseason as the presumptive starter, and he should take the reins for now unless Manuel blows everyone away in training camp and preseason. Manuel is clearly the quarterback that the Bills wanted, but it's hard to see him being the quarterback that they need him to be to make progress in 2013. That said, the guys he's up against aren't exactly the best of the best, so Manuel making some noise is definitely a possibility.

Be ready to start by week 5, E.J., because I expect a KolbKussion by week 4.

I kinda like the Bills pick. This guy's got a lot of talent and now after hearing a gazillion times that he shouldn't have been picked where he was will have a little incentive to work hard. He might surprise a bunch of people.
