04:48 PM ET 04.29 | Buffalo Sabres president Ted Black announced that general manager Darcy Regier will retain his role to begin the 2013-14 season. The Sabres appear headed for a complete rebuild and Regier appears to be at the head of this change, at least through this offseason and the start of next season. He repeatedly stated the Stanley Cup is the franchise's only goal. The organization is not interested in just making the playoffs. In terms of the direction the team is going, it sounds as though they plan to develop through the draft. When discussing the futures of Ryan Miller and Thomas Vanek, Regier stated he could trade both, trade one or sign both. He has met with each player and is waiting for the market to dictate their value before making any decisions.
