07:03 AM ET 04.30 | Detroit appears to be moving very quickly in its effort to replace Lawrence Frank, including meeting with candidates. [The Pistons] are scheduled to sit down Tuesday with Nate McMillan, according to NBA coaching sources. The Pistons were likewise planning to interview Phoenix Suns interim coach Lindsey Hunter this week after Hunter -- who is widely expected to lose his post with the Suns after the dismissal of general manager Lance Blanks last week -- sought and received permission to interview for the Detroit opening. ... Another candidate known to interest Detroit is Houston Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson, who is also projected in coaching circles to be a candidate for the Milwaukee Bucks' job when the Rockets' playoff run is over.

Lakers should look into getting one of those coaches...D'Antoni is not a playoff coach.

This team needs a leader at the HC.No hunter , as he couldn't get Phoenix to play and no Sampson, who ruined 2 NCAA programs cause he was dirty.Nate should be the choice

Jgb, I totally agree. McMillan is easily the best coach of that lot!

A good point, Will, though I couldn't see the Lakers handing Hunter or Sampson the reins. Would you see McMillan being a good fit there? Or, someone else (other than Phil Jackson)?

Phil is the beverage of choice but if he can't go anybody else will do better than Mike. The guy doesn't believe in defense. He's so far away from the truth of winning basketball. It's like being in a long distance relationship with Gloria and expecting her to be faithful.

Detroit will have to get down on their knees and beg (and overpay) to get a decent coach to commit.
