On a 10 scale, OSU's Miller could be a 12 in '13

07:12 AM ET 04.30 | Braxton Miller has seen a lot in his college career, including a postseason ban that cost him 15 December practices with offensive coordinator Tom Herman -- which made this past spring so important. Herman believes Miller can actually be better than everyone thinks. Both Herman and Meyer have admitted Miller probably wasn't ready to play as a freshman two years ago, but interim head coach Luke Fickell didn't have many other options at the time. "If Braxton was a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10 when we got here, he finished (last) season around a four," Herman said of the junior out of Huber Heights, Ohio. By the end of spring ball he was around a six, but the cool thing with him is he could be about a 12."

Mods missed a golden opportunity. Should have posted a story about the NFL draft & 63 picks from the SEC vs 31 from ACC, 28, Pac 12, etc.

Could have fired up some SEC chest bumping, haters, SEC cheats, Minor league football, etc & MAYBE had a 100+ post thread for the first time in a while.

On a more serious note, how will the B1G and other conferences recruit 5 & 4 star athletes? Won't most of these kids narrow their choices to SEC schools, since everyone knows that's the best ticket to the NFL? It's not a big problem for my guys, since we don't have many 4 and fewer 5 stars on our roster.

In regards to B. Miller, he did show major improvement between his Freshman and Sophmore years. I wonder though if that was due to a different offensive scheme that made better use of his natural abilities, rather than actually improving his skills.

Lost in all this, didn't FSU have the most for a school? Wasn't Rutgers top 5?

My Rice had more than Mich in the first 2 days.

The lack of talent at traditional B1G powers was proven by the NFL draft.

There's more that goes into a student athlete's choice of schools than the programs' wins, losses, championships, and former players in the NFL. A 5* or 4* HS player from Ohio or Pennsylvania or California or Texas may not want to play for Bama, with the shift in culture, climate, et al. The may wind up at a school in the B1G, or PAC, or B12-2, or even the MWC ("Dad, I'm 6'1". I've been the starting QB in high school since I was 15. I've set every record in the State. I'm going to Boise State. I'm going to play, and I'm going to see if I can surpass Kellen Moore's accomplishments.").

Or he could be a six. Or a seven. Maybe an 8? What if he is a two? Wow so many numbers so little time.

Of course - but it is becoming clearer that the SEC is a great training ground for the NFL. If I was a top-level recruit and had aspirations of playing the NFL, I would want to better my chances by playing against and with the best players. Absolutely, kids will favor schools that are closer to home. However, it just takes a couple of recruits to make the difference between a good team and a great team.
