07:15 AM ET 04.30 | After transferring, Hunter Mickelson will have to wait a year to make his impact in the paint for Kansas, and now it's a matter of, literally, how big that impact will be. [Mickelson] apparently lost some effectiveness after going from about 220 pounds to 245 his freshman to sophomore season at the University of Arkansas. ... "He broke the freshman shot-block record at Arkansas set in 1988 by Oliver Miller (72). They put 25 pounds on him, (and) it slowed him down," said Mickelson's dad, Darien, estimating Hunter's current weight at 235 pounds. "When he was a freshman, he was an elite shot-blocker," [writer for Sporting Life Arkansas] Doc Harper said. "This past year, a lot of people say that after the weight gain, (he) was not as explosive."

I think we lost a good one. And a good guy too. He's a big and just didn't fit into Anderson's style of play. I think if he works hard this year off he will really help Kansas. I only wish him the best.

Hey WPS, lose a good one, or bench warmer?

0-6, GREAT to hear from you! Hope your heath is improving.

We lost a lot of potential. He had a great freshman year, and a flop of a sophmore yr. IMO, the weight wasn't what affected him most. He had lots of foul trouble 1st yr and played MUCX less agressive this yr to avoid foul trouble.

Truth is, his style wasn't a good fit for Mike Anderson's system....wish him well at Kansas

Did they really write "make an 'impact' in the paint" in a story about a kid with a weight issue?

Geez, journalism has gotten so bad, it's not even laughable anymore.

Good to see you King. Yes WPS, my health is getting somewhat better, thanks. A major right eye operation to repair where it was beat to death, and also catarac for it too, then catarac surgery for the left eye, cut back on several meds after these ops, feeling a lot better.I have 5 doc visits upcoming in May, to iron out an up coming chest operation soon thereafter if possible and if the odds are good.

It is good to hear you are doing better and it is good to see you post again.
