01:06 PM ET 04.30 | Following the news Monday that NBA veteran forward Jason Collins is gay, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace tweeted out some insensitive remarks about homosexuality, though he deleted the tweet not long after and issued an apology. The Dolphins responded later with a statement on the matter, noting that they plan to address the team so that an incident like this does not happen in the future. "Mike Wallace has apologized for his comments, and we have addressed the matter with him. Mike's comments do not reflect the views of the Miami Dolphins. We believe in a culture of inclusiveness and respect, and any statements to the contrary are in no way acceptable to our organization. We will address the entire team about our policy of inclusion and make sure they all understand the importance of respecting individual choices."

Amazing! Just one "insensitive" tweet that had to be apologized for. The players are showing incredible self control.

I'm just waiting for the first openly gay player to get cut and then claim it wasn't because of his play.

Could be Collins. He won't get cut, but he's not under contract now. He's really not that much of a player, and I can see him getting "overlooked" by other teams.

I thought the same thing about Collins...

"Why is nobody offering me a contract? Surely it's not cause I averaged 1.1 PPG last season"...

there you go, they need to muzzle Wallace already... wait until he thinks he doesn't get the ball enough....

Where is T.O. when we need him?

I just saw his "insensitive" statement, and it wasn't really all that bad. The media just doesn't like it if someone says anything that isn't 100% supportive of gays.

Bro.... For some reason this thread just reminded me of the Marlins HR statue....

But if he says he's a Christian.... Oh he's fair game like Tebow.

The only thing he said was something to the effect that it's too many women in the world to be gay, and he doesn't understand it.

When have we ever needed T.O.?

Wallace is an idiot from Mississippi, nuff said. He would have been dumb enough to support anti-black racism back in the day before pro sports integrated.

Tweets are never good news.

Why the hell can't he have an opinion?

There are people who have different opinions.

For what it's worth, I agree but when you're wearing a teams colours, your opinions have a tendency to reflect on the team. Management hates that!

This whole issue was going to be tough. No matter what way you feel, or think....it's fair game to be criticized, or applauded.....it's time to realize.....it's here, and it's ****.....
