04:23 PM ET 04.30 | Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask's performance in the postseason will impact his contract negotiations with the team this offseason. As if that statement isn't obvious enough without confirmation, general manager Peter Chiarelli openly addressed it with the Boston media. Stating that every pending negotiation can be altered by performance in the postseason, Chiarelli made it clear that Rask was no exception. Currently playing out a one-year, $3.5 million contract, Rask will become a restricted free agent this offseason. A strong showing in the postseason could help improve Rask's chances of getting what he wants when the two sides meet at the bargaining table this summer.

That's big talk when the player is a RFA.
They'd already have him locked up if he was a UFA.

Don't let Garth hear that, he likes to bid up.

Perennial Hart nominee Phil Kessel could do his former owner a huge favour by lighting Tuukka up like a Christmas tree.

Your definition of perennial and Hart nominee are vastly different from mine...

Hey interns...how long are we going to see that "hot clicks" pic of Carl Pavano that's been up for months? ---------------------->

Much as I hate to say it...and I really do hate to say it...the way the B's have been playing, you may have that hat on for a while.

I'm highly doubtful. The only thing giving me hope is that most hockey writers are picking the Bruins in 5 or 6, and they are usually horrendously wrong.I think it's gonna be one of the better series, but the Leafs are still a few pieces away from being competitive enough to progress I think.

If the B's FINALLY get their act together, it could be a rout, but I haven't seen a lot of evidence that is going to happen. They have had 3 really big games in the past couple of weeks...the game after the bombing and 2 games to win the division...and have come up short in all three.

Of course, I wasn't expecting much going into the playoffs a couple of years ago, and that worked out OK :)

I'm just gonna put money on Boston every game so I feel like a winner regardless.

Good plan...I'll drink to that!

Rask is the least of my concerns coming into the first round.

Seriously. The defense not handing the puck to Leafs in front of Rask is more of a concern, not to mention putting a puck or two in their net.

This year's year does not know how to finish games. Part of that is defense but, also and let's be honest, Rask < Thomas. Granted, Thomas was not going to play for anyone this year but he kept that team in plenty of games that should have been lost and covered for plenty of the defense's deficiencies.
