Alabama a twenty-two point favorite. I believe this is called the "Michigan Effect".

Clempson by 2, huh? Hmmmmmmm

22 seems like a lot. And this is comming from a die hard Bama fan.

How much of their defense did UGA lose from last season? Both teams should have a little firepower left, so It should come down to D, IMO

Yup....we lost 10 of 11 I think.

'Bama, ND is coming after ya!

I think it is the Logan Thomas effect. What's the over/under on INTs? I say he throws three by halftime.

Same reason I'm taking TCU over LSU.

Ditto here. If I were betting, I might put money on VippySue.

OTOH, Tech is hurting at some key positions. Their main running back might be back, if his legal woes go away, and some main all-conference players are coming off of injuries that may limit if they can play or not.

My biggest worry is that Bama will look past the Hokies to their next game.

Yeah! We heard that last year, too!

You lost a ton of D talent, but what did Clemson lose? Any idea?

If they play again this year my guess is that the Domers make it a closer game. After all, it couldn't be much worse.

The game is in Clemson; in essence, 2 pts says less than one score; it will be hyped as Murray vs Boyd.

When last Bama met VT in the CFA Kick-Off Classic, Bama won by 10, 34 - 24. It was 2009. Bama went on to defeat Texas for the BCS NC. VT went on to a 10-3 record, beating the snot out of UTK in the Peach Bowl, 37-14.*

*USCw fans better not go there...

That and the fact that Va Tech is perennially overrated

Despite the point spread, I'd say that a Bama victory over the Chokies is very likely, considering Beamer's record against Top-Five competition away from Blacksburg (which is 0-fer-whatever).

OTOH, if it's anything less than double digits, I know a lot of spoiled Bama fans and media writers will wonder "what's wrong with Bama?" and "what's wrong with Saban?" (BTW, I heard those same comments a lot when Bear Bryant was at Bama. Goes with the territory.)

And, to verify my previous post, Beamer is 0-11 against Top 5 teams away from Blacksburg.

Sadly, as much as he's done to put Virginia Tech football on the map (it wasn't even a speedbump before), that may be what he's remembered for - unable to win when the Big Game Spotlight is on him.
