06:54 AM ET 05.01 | A stadium with a view? [The Vikings new stadium] will have a sloped roof and possibly, sliding walls, windows or doors that open to the downtown Minneapolis skyline, according to a public document released Monday. Those details, spelled out in a nearly 400-page draft Environmental Impact Statement made public by the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, provide the first glimpse of a project that is expected to replace the Metrodome by the 2016 NFL season. ... The stadium facade could be made up of a combination of metal panels, Kasota limestone and curtain walls that appear transparent or translucent when lit. It will feature four entrances, but 75 percent of the fans are expected to enter and exit through the west plaza, which faces downtown. That entrance could feature sliding and pivoting doors.

To go along with the "caving roof".. Nice

There are those who wish the sliding walls, windows and doors would open on a view of downtown Los Angeles.

The inability of any putative owner to put together a plausible stadium deal is the #1 reason why no team has relocated to LA.

Stuff ya just cannot make up:

The Star Tribune is the reporting source in a swindle where they own the building and the land that will need to be purchased to do the Stadium dance. And round and round it goes....

Exactly. Why do these fux always want to add stuff to these stadiums that no stadium actually needs, but adds 100s of millions to the cost of the stadium? Because they arent paying for it and the taxpayers are.

I would like to know the current price of Vikings tickets ... and what the price of Vikings tickets will be in 2016+.

Will this stadium be used for anything but Vikings games?

Doesn't everyone goes to a football stadium for the view of downtown and to marvel at the architecture of a structure that will be outdated in 20 years?

I say can the trappings and put in about 20,000 more seats.

The Vikes rank 27th in paid attendance, at 60,725. They do not fill their current stadium. Many team in the NFL are having trouble filling seats and blackouts are becoming more common, which, of course, alienates the fans and makes it even harder to fill seats. HD TV has fundamentally changed the market for NFL tickets.

Unless you can give fans a reason to drop a few C-notes for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon, think twice about building empty seats.

If the stadium costs $765 million, it will translate to $95,625,000 per game in one season.

You would think (I know that's not applicable when it comes to NFL economics) that increasing the seating by 33% would reduce ticket prices accordingly. They can keep on gouging the idiots who buy luxury boxes, and make real seats more affordable for real fans.

Sorry, I guess I'm hoping for too much thinking anyone associated with the NFL has much of any concern for fans (other than for their money).

We know that... and still we watch..

Since it'll be owned by a public entity (a governor-appointed stadium commission will run it), yes. Vikes owner got permission to also get a soccer team in there, but outside of those dates, it can be used for anything the commission wants. There's already talk of leasing it on certain dates to the U of M baseball team for games during the spring.

And one panel that opens up under the quarterback when the booing reaches a certain decibel level.

Sliding walls in a climate where half the year you would die of exposure if you went outside in a t-shirt and jeans...
