07:28 AM ET 05.01 | Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson is coming off a season where he rushed for 2,097 yards (the second-most ever in NFL history) and earned the honors for NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the NFL Most Valuable Player award. Now, with a full offseason to prepare and no reconstructive knee surgery to recover from, Peterson has his sights set even higher. While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Peterson acknowledged that he is aiming to rush for 2,500 yards in 2013. That number would crush the NFL single-season rushing record of 2,105. It may seem like an outrageous number and goal for Peterson, but he showed us last season that he is definitely capable. Peterson played the season fresh off of a torn ACL and with a sports hernia, so there is no telling what a healthy version of Adrian Peterson will be able to accomplish on the field.

QUOTE(#3):

I'd unrealistic, but who knows with this guy.

I know what you mean. It IS unrealistic. But last season I said there was no way he'd do what he did. No way, no how.

If he can keep up his crazy-**** 6 ypc, he's still gonna need almost 420 attempts to make 2500 yards. That's just an insane number of carries, and at 28 years old, he may never recover from it.
