06:52 AM ET 05.02 | It has been about a week since the NFL Draft, and yet Geno Smith still can't seem to get out from under the microscope. [Smith, according to sources], hopes to emulate players such as Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, putting himself cut above the rest of the quarterback fray. The problem is that NFL types see a guy who, right now, doesn't understand how to get there. "His biggest problem is that he doesn't know what he doesn't know," said a league executive, who spent extensive time assessing Smith before the draft. ... "He can sling it, he can fit it into tight spots, he can do a lot of things and I think he wants to be good. But you can't tell him anything right now. He's tuned out because he thinks he's got it all down."

They're going to scream for him to start right after Sanchez's next Buttfumble.

Wow. If even half the stuff being reported about this kid is true, the Jets circus is gonna be worse than the Tebow era.

Nothing worse than somebody who's dumb and arrogant. They're virtually un-coachable and they think everything that comes out of their mouth is pure gold.

Again, this guy's a perfect fit to the Sexy Rexy Circus!

All he needs now is a Twitter account, and he'll be set for the NFL.

May 2, 2013  08:31 AM ET

A couple linebackers may knock some sense into him. Heh...maybe that would work on Rex.

from what I've read, if the Jets didn't pick him when they did this kid was going to tumble much further in the draft.

May 2, 2013  08:37 AM ET

Wow. What can you say about this guy, and why would the JETS risk another PR nightmare? I guess the more smoke you put up, the better Rex can hide.

Isn't it amazing that a team with one Superbowl in its franchise history somehow ends up with Three Rings?

Smith / Sanchez, E.J Manuel / Kolb, Tannehill. Belichick and Kraft already have the 2013 AFC East Champion shirts printed up...
