01:31 PM ET 05.02 | Expect to see Kelvin Sampson on the sidelines somewhere in a suit next season: the Rockets' assistant coach has been linked to three of the five open NBA head coaching jobs.

Sampson had been a successful coach at the college level for some time, leading Oklahoma to the NCAA Tournament in 11 of 12 years, including a Final Four and an Elite Eight. But a job at Indiana would be his undoing, as he'd be fired for NCAA violations and would be given sanctions forcing colleges to provide evidence he'd served his penance if they wanted to hire him without penalty. He moved to the pro ranks, and has turned heads, becoming Houston's top assistant.

He's been linked to the Milwaukee Bucks, where he landed his first assistant job after Indiana, as well as the Charlotte Bobcats and Detroit Pistons. The Pistons are considered the least likely of the three to move on Sampson, as they prefer Nate McMillan.

It's not often that college coaches can make the transition to the pro game. We will just have to wait and see.

I guess he's been in the Association long enough that the "college" tag can be removed.

He's still a dewsh.
