Did Perry intentionally kick Howard in the head?

07:14 AM ET 05.03 | Penalizing intent can be tricky business, but some believe it might help the sport. During the second period of the Ducks' 3-1 victory over the Red Wings on Tuesday, [Corey Perry] skated across the Wings crease, in between goalie Jimmy Howard and defenseman Nik Kronwall. Perry, in trying to avoid Howard, leaped in air and clipped Howard in the face with his skate. Perry received a two-minute goalie-interference penalty, which the Wings squandered. Howard appeared momentarily dazed but continued to play. After the game, he downplayed the incident. ... [I believe] Perry's skate-scrape of Howard's face was intentional and warranted a fine, maybe even a suspension. In typical NHL fashion, the league did nothing.

Eh, the proper response would be for Bertuzzi to run Niemi

I'm just gonna choose to ignore this ridiculousness and congratulate the Wings for getting on not letting a third period collapse hinder their determination to get back into this series.

Agree 100% ... how stupid is that? Put on your big boy panties and play...Perry got a 2 minute and that's all it called for.

It probably wouldn't have been an issue if Corey hadn't received the congratulatory tweet from Chuck Norris.

Without the defenseman there I would say yeah, but Perry had no place to go.

He should just be thankful he didn't get Malarchuk'ed.

I see what you mean. The left skate was dangerously close to the neck.

I disagree. It was a very big hit. Even on slo mo (which I watched it on 3 or 4 times) it was violent.

Knee, shin and finally foot hit howard in the head and Perry knew exactly what he was doing.

Could easily have been one of those "C" things that are the rage these days and Howard would have been done.

I couldn't believe Ray Ferraro was saying it was a clean hit, he didn't even think 2 minutes was warranted. Mind you he thought Hansen's hit on Gialardi the other night was clean too. Ferraro should be put down....

And he made the absolute most of his placement. He for sure added to his situation. And it was to the head.

They know they can rattle Howard, he seems to upset easy when touched. Wings youngest team in years are learning how to play.

That was more than a touch.

I can't even imagine if that skate had met head or neck. Just glad no serious injury occured.

It was the top of the boot , the laces, that clubbed Howard.

I don't think he did it on purpose (hitting Howard in the head with his skate, but I do believe he tried to clip or at least crowd Howard), but one can jump on skates without using a hurdler's technique. Making like a hurdler going over the 42 inchers is highly wreckless.

I wouldn't really say that, given how they were owning that game. I'd say it was more akin to them crapping the bed, and then changing the sheets before anyone woke up.
