Will Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce return to Celtics?

11:54 AM ET 05.04 | Doc Rivers has always pulled Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce together, and in another age Ray Allen, to schedule a season-ending meeting. Last night the Celtics coach gestured his two oldest vets over to the side, and made preliminary plans to talk about the future. But never has the future appeared so grainy in this aging era of Celtics basketball. Pierce has said he wants to play beyond this year, though that could leave him in Clippers garb as easily as the green uniform he's worn his entire professional life. Garnett said last night that the opportunity to play with Pierce was a big reason he became a Celtic, and it could now be a deciding factor in whether he remains, even if he's under contract for two more years.

As much as I don't like PP and hate (not real hate, but Celtics/Lakers rivalry hate) Boston. I hope Pierce retires in Green. He should be like Bird, Magic, and other greats that played for one team only.

It's one more thing missing from sports greatness. I think that in itself is worthy of champion like recognition.

My two cents...

I'm a Celtic fan, and I completely agree with you. I'd love to see more of the greats play for only one team and retire with that team.

I follow the sentiments of others. I hope Pierce retires a Celtic. When I look at my Celtics I'm trying to see where the team can go from here. If Fab Melo can be decent 10pt / 5reb a game, that would be huge. We need a quality garbage man like Bird Man, Reggie Evans or Manimal and we need a decent 2 guard.

When great players get old they become cancers in the locker room. With the exception of David Robinson who passed on the torch gracefully... the rest have all been nuts to deal with especially Kobe. Celt's need to let Pierce and Garnet walk to usher in the new era of Rondo and Green.

I see what your saying but Rondo + Green won't be enough. Pierce still has game so it's not a charity case if he stays.

When Zoo gets released from the mental institution, can someone have him get on the horn to Despicable Donald and propose a Blake for Aldridge trade? Throw in anybody else you have to, sans CP3.

What about Kevin Love for Blake? Could work. Love has more offense than Blake and can take his man out to the 3 point line. But I agree that LA(Lamarcus Aldride) would fit in really well w/ the Clippers also...

I also hope that PP retires as a Celtic. KG would be a great trade asset to a team that needs a veteran front court. He could really help a Clippers, Thunder, or a Rocket team...

KG for who?Nobody will be foolish enought to take on Jordan's contract. The guy flat out STINKS.Blake is a mental midget. But, you don't trade him for KG at this juncture of their careers.

I thought the Cs wanted Jordan and your young PG? It could work. You got to take a chance somehow especially when the Clipps really need a low post presence...
