08:23 AM ET 05.05 | In a move that was disappointing but not surprising to Miami, the NCAA this week ruled out Miami's slim hopes of the case being dismissed before UM and former Hurricanes coaches have a full hearing in front of the infractions committee on June 14-16 in Indianapolis, according to multiple sources. Temple law professor Eleanor Myers, a member of the NCAA's infractions committee, informed UM and four former Hurricanes coaches that she does not believe she has the authority to dismiss the case pre-hearing. The infractions committee had given Myers the assignment of ruling on UM's and the coaches' motions to dismiss.

The NCAA will make an example out of the Hurricanes, like they did to USC and Ohio State!!!

GTH, good morning, my friend!!! I'm not too sure that the Hurricanes will get punished as severely, as SMU did!!! :-)

They won't dismiss it and they won't do their due dilligence either.

"So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth" Revelation 3:16

We need a strong leader at the NCAA not a left-field thinker whose solution is to change the rules to match the cheating and waffle at the very moment when we need him to stand up and show some strength.

The real prob is that the NCAA doesn't enough real power to do much of anything. See details of the Duke jewelry case, Cam, et al.

If the people involved don't talk, they can't do anything. I personally like the threats they are making that you are guilty until someone involved will talk and defend their innocence, instead of silence that untraceable money bought.

Too many ex-jocks of the 'EWE' have bragged about the lack of institutional control for going on four decades. It was bound to catch up to them, eventually.

Boy the NCAA sure has a big boehner for the U.

May 5, 2013  05:24 PM ET

Give them the death penalty.

May 6, 2013  01:44 AM ET

The one consistent thing about NCAA punishments is their inconsistency. Beware U.

May 6, 2013  04:52 AM ET

Unfortunately, The U does not have a sterling track record where the NCAA is concerned. And the NCAA is about as unpredictable as a porcupine with Tourettes.

Could be an interesting summer.

Its going on year #4, the bloated NCAA has knuckle-dragged well beyond reason as is about to burst. The governor of Pennsylvania is already suing NCAA and Senator Abruzzo of Florida is winding up to sue as well.
Its not like this is a forensics case where they needed anthropologist. Either they got the Canes or they don't.
