07:13 AM ET 05.06 | For a few years now, head coach Dave Tippett has done pretty well with his roster on a budget. [It] almost seemed like adding bonafide skill would disrupt the process. ... "The hard-working, grind-it-out style is what you have to have to win," Tippett said. "Skill players can work hard and grind it out, also. You look at LA that won it last year. They're a hard-working, grinding team, but they still have skill." ... "That's what you're trying to build. You're trying to build a team that can do all the things you want them to do. But to win, you have to have that little extra bit of skill." ... "We know there are things we have to do to get better," General Manager Don Maloney said. "We have to find quite frankly more help up front."

Coyotes brass sounds desperate call

Desperation would sound better coming from the string section.

As long as they don't use the wolf howl .... I don't really care. They've been crying "wolf" far too long. Move 'em to QC already and put 'em out of their misery.

Exactly. This is beyond the point of ridiculousness.

I have a feeling some surprise is coming, not unlike when the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg. Not sure where, though.

If it's to QC it will mess up the new realignment.

If it becomes too unbalanced they might have rename the conferences Palin and Bachmann.

QUOTE(#11):

Which is why I don't think it's there. I'm a firm believer that the Panthers will somehow wind up there out of both necessity and convenience over moving a team from the already shorthanded west to the east. Now with Seattle not getting their arena/NBA team, who knows where they actually would wind up.

The Panthers drew close to 100% capacity in a very down year. The Blue Jackets deserved to draw better than they received at the gate. On the surface I would nominate them as a franchise for relocation before Florida, TB and Carolina.

Nail on the head.

QUOTE(#15):

'lumbus had just traded their best player and were looking at a rebuild. The atmosphere in their building was great down the stretch. Same with NYI.The thing with those attendance numbers, and likewise with TB, is that a) A large swath of those tickets always go unused in poor hockey markets, and b) the prices for those tickets are shamefully low, so that even if they are sold it's hard to return a decent gate. TV ratings in South Florida are dismal, merch sales probably likewise. I just can't see this team being propped much longer.

The problem with the Panthers is that they haven't had a marquee player since Pavel Bure.

Headed for Seattle they is - too bad the 'Jets' got stolen from the franchise. now they'll have to be the M-Softs.
