Time up for Scioscia?

07:08 AM ET 05.06 | Clearly, it's not working in Anaheim -- not at the moment, anyway. Watching the Angels this season, I keep thinking, "Why does Mike Scioscia need this?" [If] the Angels fail to recover, something will have to give. Scioscia could take a year off like [Terry Francona], but that would require him to renounce his contract. Better Scioscia should sit down with Moreno with the two agreeing to part amicably through a John Farrell-type trade -- only with a bigger return. The Dodgers, Scioscia's former team, would be the most obvious possibility. ... The Angels could hire a new manager with new energy. And they would be better for it. Fourteen years is a long time for a manager to stay in one place. Especially when everything is no longer the same.

In fairness, it's hard for a guy to motivate an OVERPAID roster.

Scioscia is a good manager, but I agree with article that both the Angels and the manager need a fresh start apart from each other.

You had to think some friction might be coming between the Angels front office and Scioscia. For years Scioscia played Jeff Mathis' wet newspaper bat over Mike Napoli (before finally getting rid of him). Then Jerry Dipito gets hired as GM and immediately acquires the national league version of Napoli in Chris Iannetta.

Great ... the only ones pushing this stupid idea is the frickin media ... get over yourselves and let the man do his job ... "the Dodgers??" ... really??? Mattingly is out, just so Scioscia can move in???

Stupid media ...

Maybe he just needs a "mental" day like Josh did. Ya know, just clear those cobwebs out? Must be lots of spiders in LA.

Scoscia is not walking away from that contract, and no other team will trade for a manager with a bazillion year contract. The Angels will have to fire him.

Morning all.

I was watching the Angels game over the weekend and I thought to myself, "Damn, it seems as if Scioscia has been the manager with the Angels forever. 14 years, huh?
1 pennant and 1 WS win (2002). And, under .550 W/L pct since 2009.
It may be time to move on.
