Ex-PSU QB confirms 'mutual interest' in new school

07:11 AM ET 05.06 | Former Penn State University quarterback Steven Bench may have his next college football home lined up. According to [Bench], there's "mutual interest" in the possibility he'll transfer to Mississippi State University. Bench, who just announced last week he would be transferring from Penn State, confirmed in a Friday night phone interview with The Dispatch MSU Sports Blog that he would consider the national reports that MSU is a possible destination "very accurate". NCAA rules restrict the MSU coaches from publicly commenting on the recruiting of a player not yet on their roster. According to a ESPN.com report, Bench is considering both South Florida and Mississippi State.

I erroniously assumed that by hiring the 300 lb badger, Arky would be the school of choice for transferring QB's.

I must go back and re-read that contract.........

We'll have to wait and see...not sure what O'Brien saw/didn't see in him to not play him that much. Could be he doesn't have the talent, or there was a conflict of some sort (O'Brien didn't like him, QB Coach didn't like him, Equipment Manager didn't like him, etc).

He won't be coming as the appointed starter as that will still be Tyler Russell....be interesting to see how he stacks up against Dak Prescott and the incoming guys.

MSST was on his radar during his initial recruitment. He did commit originally to Rice and then went to PSU????

Mullen is better with QB's than a lot of folks think. The difference is that he molds the system around their talents (ala Tebus)

IMO, Mullen was a good hire for Moo State......be interesting to see how long he stays. Looks like Old Mess is winning the Arms Race, and he will get other/better opportunities over time.
