05:24 PM ET 05.06 | The Big Ten continues to dole out big money to its member institutions, thanks in large part to the Big Ten Network. This year, each school is expected to receive $25.7 million from the league, $7.6 of which comes from the television network. The success of the network has allowed the Big Ten to pay out more cash on an annual basis than any other conference. That caught the attention of other leagues, which are following suit. The Pac-12 has its own networks up and running, the SEC will launch its channel in 2014 and the ACC is in ongoing negotiations with ESPN to establish one of its own.

It will be interesting to see how the new markets impact BTN revenue streams to its member schools. Also, 2016 is the year that the B1G goes to a nine game schedule, increasing the number of conference games for sale to 63 versus just 48 now. And wouldn't you know it, 2016 is also the year when the ABC/ESPN contract gets renegotiated. As you said, JD, roll on big money!
