07:00 AM ET 05.07 | Even now, Houston center Omer Asik isn't exactly looking over his shoulder. With the Rockets expected to make a run in free agency at Lakers center Dwight Howard, [Asik] said he has not given a thought to how Howard might impact his position with the team or if they could play together. "It's all things that happen out of my control," Asik said. "I really don't know and I really don't care. Whether it happens, we'll see. I'm just looking forward to rest and getting better for the next season." Asik averaged 10.1 points and 11.7 rebounds in his first season with the Rockets, the second-largest individual scoring increase in the NBA this season (behind James Harden).

I know you're a Houston fan, but you really can't believe what you just said. Howard will be a hall of famer. While Asik is a good, young center - a rebounding/defense machine, I don't think the hall of fame is in his future.

Dang, you can't be serious! Teams are trying hard to get this guy but yet you let your emotions decide your faith. Forget all those off court dramas for the last 2 years. This guy has proven that he produces on the court. It's always good to add a superstar to a team. There's not much around.

I'd take Dwight Howard in OKC....bring him in!

They don't HAVE to give up Asik or anyone to get Howard. He is a unrestricted FA. Asik can be a great backup for Howard.

With Russ and KD putting up shots, there won't be enough touches to entice D12 to OKC.

Didn't they say the same thing when Harden was there and it worked out fine?

Yes, they do. They are only 4-5 million under the cap next season. That's not enough to get Howard to Houston, even if he wants to go there. The Rockets are younger than the Lakers, but Howard will have the same problems offensively in Houston that he has in LA. He'd be the third/fourth option and James Harden dominates the ball and over-dribbles more than Kobe does.
