McCann's days in Atlanta numbered

07:05 AM ET 05.07 | For Atlanta, two is a crowd behind the plate, where the club has to make room for six-time All-Star Brian McCann and hot rookie Evan Gattis. The Braves won't say it aloud, but the handwriting is on the wall for a change in 2014, with McCann making $12 million this year and ready to become a free agent after the year. McCann's presence is clearly a plus, as he has a career .826 OPS and adds to the team's powerful array of hitters. Furthermore, Gattis' versatility should help manager Fredi Gonzalez make it work, or so the Braves believe, if they can get him three to four starts a week between left field, first base and catcher. ... McCann, only 29, should be a star of the free agent market this coming winter.

McCann hasn't been at his career averages since 2010. I'm not so sure he'll be a star of the free agent market. He seems to be very damaged goods.

Actually, last year was Brian's only "off" year. 2010 and 2011 were both very good.

McCann will be 30 in 14 wanting a raise from 13 season, three or four year deal. The only teams that would be interested is the AL with the DH or free spending LA Dodgers in the NL.

sounds about right. i expect the braves to make him a qualifying offer that he will turn down in order to test the market. i fully expect to see him with an AL team next season.

That depends on how he performs this year. If the shoulder isn't the same, maybe not.

Toronto would be nice. Could use a catcher who knows a little about framing.

ANGELS may jump into McCann's wagon the way arte moreno listen to his GM dipoto, but who i'm kidding??

the problem with McCann,,,he has a rash of injuries, best thing to do for him??sign him to a two years deal and no more than that!!!

How would you like McCann's bat in Cincinnati's lineup?Of course, the Yankees might need a catcher too.

i think this catcher has gave his best times in atlanta, whatever any other team could get out of him, would be a extra, meaning there is very little guarantee about his production as a hitter!!!

the jays don't need another injury-prone player, besides the jays do have ARENCEBIA and he is a good hitter with power and such!!!
