07:07 AM ET 05.07 | Matthew Thomas is well beyond the point of second thoughts -- he's changed his mind. [Thomas] -- one of the prized gems in Florida State's highly-touted recruiting class in February -- said Monday he is seeking a release from his scholarship so he can sign with Georgia or Southern California. ... [Said Thomas:] "What happened was on Signing Day [was] I wasn't sure who I wanted to sign with. I had issues with different schools. But when I told my mom I didn't want to sign with anybody and wait and give it a few days she said I couldn't do that. She said, 'FSU is a good school -- pick them. It's close to home.' I wasn't agreeing with it. But I felt like I was being disrespectful to her if I didn't sign. So I made her happy."

So now he's going to make mamma unhappy AND have to sit out a year? WTF is wrong with these kids and their inability to make a committment?

I think it is a case of Mom wouldn't sign the SC NLI and he went along with it because he was still a HS boy...now he is a college man he thinks he can make his own decisions...

He signed in February. Isn't he still in HS.

Meh....once they sign anything for college they think they are no longer HS...remember?

I don't get why his mom wouldn't let him wait a few days to sign and be sure of who he signed with.

Once you sign, you're locked in for that first year, or you sit out a year.

Because she wanted him close to home...

These dadgum moms are getting to be a problem nowadays, can't the dads out there control these women?

LUS, you need to start up a "Keep Yo Womenz Where They Belong" class, and take referrals from CFB coaches/recruiters. You will make a boatload of $$.

You're welcome. ;-)
