06:48 AM ET 02.06 | The Patriots' bewildering downward spiral took a Pat-thetic turn with yesterday's bust of defensive back Willie Andrews on a drug distribution charge in Lowell. Though described by law enforcement as "a perfect gentleman" and "extremely compliant," Andrews, 24, of Mansfield, who is two years into a four-year contract worth $1.65 million, was allegedly driving around with marijuana crammed in his pants and $6,808 bound in rubber bands in the console of his black 2007 Ford Crown Victoria with tinted windows.

"Ya see, officer ... I was on my way to meet my buddy Nate ... you know, Nate Newton ... "

February 6, 2008  06:52 AM ET

Are you kidding me? Who is this guy?

February 6, 2008  06:58 AM ET

I knew this was coming the year the PAT break down.

February 6, 2008  07:00 AM ET

Lol, Pat-thetic.

February 6, 2008  07:07 AM ET

Whether you agree or not that his crime is hardly the most egregious thing one might do, you must agree with me that the author of the above piece needs dragged through the streets and shot through the lungs for this:

"The Patriots' bewildering downward spiral took a Pat-thetic turn..."

Daaaaaamn, what a wit. "Pat-thetic..." GET IT???? HAHALOLOLWHEE!!! Man... That is some high-quality journalism right there. And the intimation that a Super Bowl loss is a "downward spiral" shows that the author knows his football as well.

February 6, 2008  07:19 AM ET

he had the weed 'crammed in his pants'?! man, he WAS upset. LOL

February 6, 2008  07:27 AM ET

Waitaminute, waitaminute... The more I read that article, the more laughable it becomes.

"The Patriots' bewildering downward spiral..."
Bewildering, he says. First of all, there is no downward spiral until we see next season's play. If an overpowering defense is bewildering to the author, he/she should perhaps not write sports.

"...in the console of his black 2007 Ford Crown Victoria with tinted windows."
Er... what would have been wrong with just saying "in his car?" Only a child wouldn't see that the author is trying to paint an image of Hollywood's Gangsta in tha Hood, here. Hell, it borders on racist. If it'd been a white guy selling dope, I wonder if the author would have bothered to give the car make, model, color , and state of window tinting.

After 2 weeks of being told victory was guaranteed I would need a pick me up to. I agree with Blut I cant beleive some one from the Boston Herald would write this.

Oh, I thought the "downward spiral" had something to do with passes in the Super Bowl.

Blut -- give the man a break on the car. That ain't racist. Cops drive Crown Victorias. Pushers drive Sclades, Benzos and 300s. DeVilles or such if they are old school.

And maybe the Globe wanted the Lowell consumers that it was the dude in the Crown Vic who got busted if we were his customers. You know, so we wouldn't be looking for him today.

Maybe Beli left the field fast since he knew this guy had route work to do.

Talk about writing your own ticket out of town.
He supposedly has had troubles in the past w/the law.I'm kinda surprised that N.E. took a chance on him;remember the C.Peter fiasco?
Either way, another foolish mistake by a young athlete.

R.Burgandy,is that you from BBS,a stoolie?
If so,STAY CLASSY!

February 6, 2008  07:55 AM ET

What kinda drug dealer drives a Crown Vic? And a black one at that? I guess he was trying to throw off "Sully" and the rest of the boys in the Massachusetts State Police by impersonating one of them.

"kind of like using the word, "buttwolf" lol"

...or Houston Hemmorhoids. But the guy is, presumably, paid to write that stuff. Must be light on journalism talent in Boston.

Pot stuffed in his pants & $6,808 in cash in his car. Sounds like the man was on his way to a party.
