Peavy: 'I will go play anywhere to win'

07:03 AM ET 05.08 | For many, reaching a point to lock down a no-trade clause is the sign of something special. White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy had a full no-trade clause from 2008 to '10 and a partial no-trade in '11 and '12. His new contract, however, does not include any no-trade protection. Peavy says he didn't want any. ... He says he wouldn't mind being traded if it meant going to a team with a better chance of winning the World Series. "I've got one agenda left in baseball, and that's to be a champion," Peavy says. ... "I will go play anywhere to win. If you're getting traded and somebody is taking you on, they're taking you on to get to the playoffs and win it. I have no problem with not having a no-trade."

For the right price, if'n I were a GM, I'd take a shot with the guy. career WHIP is very good and he usually keeps teams under 4 runs per game so with a decent offense your team will always have a chance to win.
Some health issues seem to be his only recent bugaboo and these issues might help to make the price for his services a tad more reasonable for a pitcher of his ilk.

C'mon O's, make the trade!

....ski told me he hooked up both sides, and so rangers may be addin this guy for one year on the back end, and give kids one more year as insurance only....the machine functions best with such below radar but hugely significant chess moves...

What a slap in the face to Sox management and fans with Peavy statement just one month into the season. Since he feels the Sox has no chance of winning if I am the GM I would trade him to the Fish or Astros and let him see what kind of chance he has of winning now.

He's just being honest. And I like that attitude. I want guys on my team that put winning before everything else.
