I got Cardinals in my back yard.
Yep.
Little red birds with pointy heads.
I got trains, too.
The trains are big and noisy.
The Cardinals don't seem to mind, though.

I see where UTk scheduled UNT. Take it easy on the Mean Green.

The Cardinals schedule is going to hurt their ranking this year. Slippery Rock has a tougher schedule.

You do recall the infamous meeting at Tennessee on 10/25/1975?

Coached by Hayden Fry, the Mean Green came to Knoxville short 18 first & second string players, including all the scholly kickers. They were to be fodder for the Vols in the 1st of 3 non-conference home games.

The Vols (under Bill "Moving Van" Battle) were lethargic. They scored a TD, allowed the Mean Green to score a special teams TD on a kick-off return, scored another TD, allowed the Mean Green O to move down field for a TD, then with time running out, got the ball back deep in their own territory. Early in the series, the Vols lined up with 2 RBs split behind the QB. The snap, the QB fakes the hand-off to the back on his right, turns 180 to give the ball to the back on his left, and places it into the grasp of a blitzing North Texas LB neat as you please. To this day, this play is known to Vols fans as the "North Texas Hand-Off."

North Texas scores. They're up 21-14 with a little over 2 minutes left. The Vols receive the kick-off, break out of their lethargy, and march down the field. Within 25 yards of the goal line, no timeouts, the seconds ticking away, and 2 UTK receivers open in the end zone, the Vol QB throws the ball to the sideline out of bounds to stop the clock... But, there's no time left. The game is over. The Mean Green won (without 18 1st & 2nd string players).

I don't think the 2 teams have met since. History (and karma) favors the Mean Green.

I wished I could have seen it, I was still a bit young at the time.

My niece goes to UNT for music, so I hope y'all will be as accommodating this time around...

Looks to be a 'exciting' weekend of college football.. if ESPN had to move this high profile game to Sunday afternoon

I'd rather the Vols win, and those in attendance show appreciation for the visiting band.

That was the worst bowl-game beatdown the Gators have had since the Nebraska MNC debacle in the mid-90's.

<shudder>

Meh, blip on the radar... passing supercell T-storm. Now, if the belly draggers lose to L'ville again, there will be shizzle, my friend.

Yes there will. And lots of it.
