Sunscreen trick gives pitchers' glue-like grip

07:03 AM ET 05.09 | Dirk Hayhurst and Jack Morris chimed in this past week, and now a couple pitchers are having their say, anonymously, in the case of Hayhurst v. Clay Buchholz. Two veteran pitchers and one source close to the Red Sox told Yahoo! Sports that about 90 percent of major league pitchers use some form of spray-on sunscreen -- almost always BullFrog brand -- that when combined with powdered rosin gives them a far superior grip on the ball. "Sunscreen and rosin could be used as foundation for houses," one American League pitcher said. "Produces a tack, glue-like substance that engineers would be jealous of." During Buchholz's May 1 start against Toronto, [Hayhurst] said on Twitter the right-hander was "loading the ball" with "slick'em painted up his left forearm."

I can see Selig trying to ban BullFrog and the union blocking it on the grounds that their delicate pitchers will get horrible sunburns....and they can't afford to pony up for the expensive Bain De Soleil stuff.

Wonder if this has anything to do with the recent dominance of pitchers?
I think lower (not zero) PED use is mostly responsible, but maybe this is also a factor.

Pitchers and Hitters have been cheating in the past as well as now as long as baseball has been played. Juicing up the baseball got Gaylord Perry into the Hall of Fame.

Another day begins, another cycle of tying our shoes, taking the same road to work, telling the same stories that make our lives seem interesting, back home, distract ourselves all evening, back to bed to rest up for more.

Hey, even a junkman can read Camus...

Satchel used to attack firecrackers to the ball timed to explode just before it got to the plate.
Cannonball Redding used to shoot at the batters while he delivered the ball, it was a good trick.
