Auburn beats Alabama (for heralded Mobile LB)

07:09 AM ET 05.09 | Many believe Tre Williams is headed to the NFL -- now via Auburn. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder emerged as a tackling machine as a freshman at St. Paul's, flirted with playing safety as a sophomore, and returned to his natural spot at middle linebacker last season. He's the most talented linebacker to emerge from the fertile Mobile market since current Alabama star C.J. Mosley. ... Mobile matters, if you want to win. Especially in this state. Williams' decision to attend Auburn -- alongside St. Paul's teammate Josh Casher and Vigor linebacker Deshaun Davis, two other recent Auburn commitments -- shows that Gus Malzahn and company will be a major recruiting force now and in the future.

Yo! Wild Bill! This is your thread! One caveat - you must avoid being plinked by the mods.

Let's hope he doesn't get an Auburn tattoo.

So Gus is winning some good recruits, and isn't using the back seat of a limo to do it. Good for him.

Auburn must have been the highest bidder.

Williams was recruited by former Auburn QB D. Craig, who is from Mobile. This area is a hotbed for top talent in the state and it won't be the last time Craig will snag a good one.

We're already being bombarded with people saying things like this.....
--------------------------------------------------

History will show that the flip of Rueben Foster to Auburn will go down as the single-most important event in changing the perception of the little/big brother roles in college football in the state of Alabama. Mainly because of what this manchild beast will do inside Jordan-Hare Stadium and the publicity that has surrounded the flip (press conference, tattoo, etc.).

Not to mention the laundry list of fellow defensive recruits that are salivating at a chance to play with this wrecking ball on the field. This guy's magnetism and mentality are no different that Cam's. Both are once in a generation players and we'll have had them in Orange in Blue in a span of four years.

I've never seen a time in which truly informed Alabama fans, not the toothleess Wal-Mart Muldykes, have been in such anxiety and agony over the direction of the Auburn Football program. I love every second of it, and they see what's happening and can't do anything about it. When you treat your players as family members and they play for you out of respect and admiration, things like 28-27 happen. When you have players that fear their coach, see rampant gray-shirting, bogus medical departures and wonder if they will have their scholarship the following year, things like a 24-0 complete meltdown implosion against your hated rival happen.

It all starts at the top and CGC will go down as a legendary coach in college football history, not just Auburn history, Book It. I tell all of the Bammers without hesitation that CGC will win more national championships at Auburn than Satan will at UTea. If you hook me up to a polygraph while saying it, I would pass because that's how much I believe it to be true.

The perception of Auburn Football in-state and on a national level is changing. September 1st is about to open the country's eyes as to what tenacious Auburn football is all about, and I can't wait to watch the look on little dabo's face. These are great times to be an Auburn Tiger. A dynasty is in the making, and if you don't see it, you don't have a clue. War Damn Chizik and War Damn Eagle."

The fact of the matter is the powers that be at auburn have not gone anywhere and the program is still being run by the same people that guided the auburn team to 3-9. Oh, they have changed coaches. But there is absolutely nothing that makes me think this guy will end up playing under another set of coaches, even if he stays at auburn.

May 9, 2013  02:48 PM ET

That he won't end up playing under another set of coaches.

The "snagging" of other players generated stories like this on al.com, affectionately called au.com. Players like Craig Sanders and Jake Holland signaled a change. Spencer Region was a shift in the sea according to a local writer. Region is now playing for Clemson.

No, this does not mean anything other than that player wanted to go to auburn. We'll still get the players we need and we'll still be in the top 3-4 classes every year.

The linebacker we already had was considered a better prospect by us.

My God. What a bag of wind you are. All you had to say is that Alabama didn't really need Tre. You didn't have to post another person's post just so you could refute it. You really do think you're a sports expert, don't you? Why don't you concern yourself with Bammer football and stay of anythign Auburn. No are not objective nor unbiased, so everythign you say about Auburn is suspect and irrelevant.
