07:13 AM ET 05.09 | The Canadiens will face elimination in Game 5 against the Ottawa Senators Thursday night, and they will do so without captain Brian Gionta. Gionta will have surgery on a torn left bicep muscle Friday. Gionta tore his right bicep in January 2012 and said he is confident he will be ready for the start of training camp in September. Gionta said he suffered his latest injury in Game 1. ... He said it wasn't a question of pain or fear of further damage. "There was a loss of function," Gionta said. Canadiens coach Michel Therrien praised his captain's courage and said the veteran was devastated by the latest injury. "When he heard the news, our captain was crying in my arms," Therrien said.

Therrien, dude, you need to learn some things are kept private.

This is about Gionta being a ****. Let's keep it there.

Loss of function is never a good thing.

May 9, 2013  09:18 AM ET

What's the big deal about missing one game?

May 9, 2013  10:22 AM ET

Crying players in Montreal? This isn't news. The injury might be but anyone that has ever watched them play knows hey cry, constantly.

but that was only after being forced to sleep face down on the couch and take it like a champ

Prust has broken ribs and Price's injury is his knee, not his groin (as goes the theory), not clear yet whether he will need surgery or not, but it looks like Price's season is over no matter what. You can't win only 1 of 3 games that you badly outplay your opponent. I'm gonna hope for the Habs, but it won't bother me to see them bow out.

Like BGDave said, I'm sure Gionta was thrilled that Therrien said that to the press. There's nothing wrong with it - hell, it may be tears of relief that the lost function isn't permanent - but you don't have to be a regular poster here to know what kind of reaction a comment like Therrien's will bring. Too bad T-pain-in-the-buttocks himself didn't think of that first - he should stick to ranting about MacLean's Super Walrus Powers instead.

That said, Canuck (comment 16) wins the "best use of subtlety in sarcasm" award. Nice... :)
