01:34 PM ET 05.09 | Former Tennessee Titans receiver Lavelle Hawkins agreed to a two-year deal with the New England Patriots on Thursday, according to the Tennessean's Jim Wyatt. The Patriots have been working hard this offseason to try to replace their top two receivers from last season, Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd. Free-agent signee Danny Amendola is expected to replace the production of Welker.

Patriots stocking up.They better find a replacement for Gronkowski, also. Not looking good for him.

Picking up Jake Ballard on waivers from the Giants last year seemed like a spiteful move at the time, but now it looks positively brilliant.

Note: Hawkins was a fourth round pick in 2008 by the Titans. They had that pick because from a trade with Dallas, they sent them Pacman Jones.

Just think it curious. Hawkins has never done much so far, but hey, who knows?

He's never had a QB like Brady throwing to him before in TN, so we'll see.

Another wasted pick by JJ. Bishop has a good point about QB's in TN.

Good pick up by the Patriots. Amendola will eventually breakdown sometime during the season.

True, but hard to imagine him matching Brandon Loyds 74 receptions for over 900 yards. That is more than Hawkins had in 5 yrs and 52 games played with the Titans.

I think he is cheap insurance , if he makes the team.

He will with Brady throwing to him. Just like he flourished when he and DeSean Jackson were catching passes from Aaron Rogers at Cal. I'm surprised Green Bay didn't grab him up real fast.

I think TB is going have to spread the ball around more this season to WR's he's not yet familiar with.

It appears that way, unless they finally got drafting a WR right. They have gone through a lot of fa WRs the last few years. A lot.
