05:38 PM ET 05.09 | Despite losing Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield in free agency and trading away the dynamic wide receiver Percy Harvin, the Minnesota Vikings arguably improved their roster for 2013. In fact, former Vikings coach and current FOX Sports analyst Brian Billick now considers Minnesota to be a top 10 team in the NFL following the draft. "One could argue that the Vikings' three first-round picks were the best players in the class at their respective positions. Couple that with the addition of Greg Jennings," Billick said. "This team is markedly better in 2013 than the team that reached the playoffs in 2012." As noted by Billick, the Vikings signed receiver Greg Jennings at the start of free agency, easily the team's biggest free agent signing thus far. All three players drafted in the first round are expected to have an impact on the team right away.

Top 10 in the NFC maybe. As a die hard Vikes fan, I don't see what Billick sees. There are still too many holes on defense, and Christian Ponder needs to either step up or get out of the way for the next QB.

Top 10 team....now that's funny....

Top 10 in which category, best running back?

May 10, 2013  07:17 AM ET

I would not call them Top 10 so soon. They are intriguing, just like their whole division. I expect Detroit to bounce back, not sure if Trestman will move the Bears to the next level or not. The question with Minnesota is Ponder, is he good enough?

They made the playoffs last year, meaning they were top 12. So Brian is saying they moved up 2 spots. Big woop.

"Are the Vikings now a top 10 NFL team?" Uh, no.

On paper, sure, say whatever you want.

I suspect they will perform similarly to last year. Going out on a limb, I know...

The Vikings are doing it the right way by drafting players that can step in and contribute immediately and adding a free agent when needed.

Ponder doesn't have to be that good for them to be a top ten team. They're a lot closer than many people think.

My mother back in England just called me, said one word on the phone, and hung up:

"No".

Never been a big Vike fan living here in Minny - moved her for my job.
The vikes have some good guys on the team. Jared Allen cracks me up, plays with a lot of enthusiasm that spreads to the team.
Owners who aren't afraid to spend money on top free agents.
The Vikes are the absolute best at evaluating talent and positioning themselves to get it.
Randy Moss, Adrian Pederson, Matt Cahill. Heck last year they drafted three pro bowl rookies. This year three number ones, two of which were rated in the top ten and they got them late.
The Vike's have had the best draft now for two years in a row and they have won a heck of a lot of drafts lately and the players they draft are 'playmakers' not just fill in undrafted free agents like the Packers.

I have the Vikes at 11-5, Lions 10-6, Bears 8-8 and Packers at 6-10.

I do not think Peterson will be as effective as a RB this season. I think other teams underestimated his ability to recover so fast.

Minnesota did have a fantastic draft, so I guess they could be in the top 10 in that category also. I think next year in the draft they will move up as high as they can to get a QB.

I'm sure their defense will be one of the 2 best defenses in the NFC North, I think that team has several questions that are unanswered concerning the offense. Will Peterson be as effective this year, Can Ponder get any better, and will Patterson fill the void of Harvin ???

The Vikings are not a couple of players away and are a top 10 team!!! The have the pieces they need, the ownership, coaches and GM to do it this year!!!! The O line and all pro running back and full back are there. The QB with another year in the system The receivers with a healthy Simpson, Childs, Jennins, Wright and the the great rookie CP. The special teams will be special with the kickers we have. The D line with Griffen set for a monster year and a greatly improved secondary!!! Superbowl Baby!!! SKOL VIKINGS!!!

Brian Billick's opinion is suspect. He was supposed to be an offensive genius then took over the as head coach of the Ravens and rode that defense to a super bowl while his offense was pathetic. He can talk, I'll give him that. Especially likes to use big words to impress his audience.
