05:56 PM ET 05.09 | Newly appointed Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough (who most recently was the Boston Celtics assistant GM) stated today that former NBA player and current Suns interim head coach Lindsey Hunter is a candidate to fulfill the open head coaching position, but wouldn't go any further in describing his potential role. Hunter replaced former Suns coach Alvin Gentry on Jan. 20, 2013 after Gentry lead the Suns to a 13-28 record. The results weren't much better for Hunter though as he went 12-29 during his 41 game tenure at the helm, good for .293 winning percentage.

The Suns need to reach for the Sun to be any where close to competitive. Hunter is being set up for failure.
