Giants pick ready to show off mean streak

07:02 AM ET 05.10 | Welcome to the NFL, Justin Pugh. Nobody in the Giants' brain trust referred to him as "mean" even though that might be the Syracuse product's best attribute. "Oh yeah, absolutely," said new Giants quarterback Ryan Nassib of Pugh, his left tackle the last three seasons with the Orange. "He's one tough dude. I've seen him many a time make his opponent quit. It's almost humorous when guys stop rushing him at the end of games." ... [New York's seven draft picks will be joined Friday morning] by six or seven players the Giants have signed as undrafted free agents, along with dozens of players in for a weekend tryout. Most of the attention, though, will be on the 6-4, 301-pound Pugh, the 19th pick of the draft.

Sounds like he's a beast. But he aint in college anymore. Whole different animal.

Good to see some of these linemen getting some positive press. But S Dot is right - in the NFL most guys don't quit.

We'll see how he responds to hitting the guy in front of him as hard as he can and that guy hits him back...only harder.

All we heard about is he has "short arms" for a tackle, but great footwork technique. I guess if you can stay in front of your man, you don't need to reach for him all the time. We shall see.

Not knocking the Cowbys draft, honest, but they had the 18 pick in front of the Giants, they needed a RT but they trade down, the Giants take Pugh at 19 ( some say too high, I have to trust Reese ) and take a Center ( which they needed too). I don't get it.

Ha! That's gonna leave a mark.

In Coughlin's world rookies don't play much unless they earn it. Even number ones-ask Wilson or JPP or any of them. If he is on the field one of two things happened. either he is good or injuries left no choice.

What is the betting line on him being suspended then?

No one quits in the NFL, son...

'cept the Jags.

I get a kick out of Diehl though, the guy Pugh has to beat out . I curse him on a weekly basis. The guy is a 5th round draft pick and every year PFW ranks him one of the bottom 3 tackles in the NFL and every year he ends up starting. For 10 years. Lazarus has nothing on the guy.

Saw some Saints and Eagle players on defense that sure looked like it last year.

Albert Haynesworth? Randy Moss? Mario Williams? The Eagles?

Maybe that's why they took Pugh. He's not going to start in week 1, but maybe by December 22nd?
