Tale of two Ovechkins

07:26 AM ET 05.10 | Home teams have had it good during Rangers- Capitals, which has many wondering about Alex Ovechkin as the series shifts back to Washington. [In Games 1 and 2,] Ovechkin was everywhere, firing 12 shots, looking like the Hart Trophy candidate he is. But over the next two games in New York -- a pair of narrow and frustrating 4-3 losses -- Ovechkin, at least statistically, evaporated. He managed all of three shots, just one in Wednesday's Game 4. He struggled to find space against ever-present Rangers defensemen Ryan McDonagh and Dan Girardi. He did not score a point. ... When Ovechkin plays well, the Capitals normally win. And to push that formula further into the playoffs, they must now win twice in the next three games.

LOL. I don't know how he has ever gotten a job in this league. Can't score, can't skate, OMG......missing a TOOTH. I wonder if maybe they could trade him for Phaneuf? We'd have to get pretty lucky. :-)

Ovie could make more space for himself if he passed more. Everyone can focus on him when he has the puck because he normally goes for a shot.

Honestly, the team is getting depth scoring and that's what you want in the playoffs. Of course it would be great if OV lit the lamp at MSG five times. But like I said, teams figure him out and it's up to Oates to figure a way to take advantage of the space created by that.

I think that's a fair observation. To say Ovie is hardheaded is a vast understatement. But, without him we don't make the playoffs and I think he's been a very positive part of the team for most of the year. Oates has done a good job with him and Ovie has actually listened a bit.

In the playoffs you can't wait 2 weeks to turn it around. Oh well. 3 game series now.
