07:13 AM ET 05.10 | Good news, Braves fans -- right fielder Jason Heyward is healing just fine, thank you. Two-and-a-half weeks after having an appendectomy, [Heyward] began a minor league rehab assignment Thursday and could be back with the Braves early next week. He went by going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and a walk for Triple-A Gwinnett in a 14-9 loss to Pawtucket on Thursday at Coolray Field. After serving as designated hitter in his first game back, Heyward will likely move to right field Friday when Gwinnett starts a weekend series against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in Pennsylvania. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said the earliest Heyward might rejoin the Braves was during the three-game series that starts Monday at Arizona.

HEYWARD needs to go back to spring trainning and regain his hand-eye cordination,,,too many strikeouts aren't a good thing to happen on his earlier career,,,

I was once chastised on these boards for claiming that Austin Jackson projected to be a better OF than Heyward. Some people should be enjoying their crow right about now.

I think you may be jumping the gun here patting yourself on the back. After 4 years you think its crow time already?

Jackson has the edge in batting avg at .280 to .256. The other numbers really don't point to Jackson being a better OF. Certainly not enough for crow.

Heyward's 162 game averages: Hits: 145 2: 29 3b: 5 HR: 22 RBI:73 SB:15 CS:6 BB:76 SO: 140 BA: .256 OBP: .349 SLG: .440 OPS: .789

Jackson's 162 averages: Hits:182 2B: 32 3B: 11 HR: 11 RBI: 55 SB:23 CS: 7 BB:63 SO: 176 BA: .280 OBP: .345 SLG: .413 OPS.759

Both players are very good fielders with Heyward winning a Gold Glove last season.

I just don't see anything truly crow-worthy in those numbers. Not yet...

For everyone not named Slinky Redfoot:

Jackson hits for a higher average, but Heyward has more power and drives in more runs. Neither is head and shoulders better than the other, but Heyward has a slightly higher OPS/OPS+. Certainly not crow-worthy at this point.

Not everyone speaks geek...

I only post with Slinky's approval in mind.
