08:03 PM ET 05.10 | Emotions and anxiety is running high these days in New York, and Jets head coach Rex Ryan is at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to who will be held responsible for a disaster in 2013. After watching the team tear itself apart in 2011 and again in 2012, Ryan is without a doubt on the chopping block and nothing short of a Super Bowl will likely save his job. This sense of pressure is known by Ryan, and it's likely the motivation behind him finally kicking his attitude into gear and calling out an underperforming player well before it's too late. According to the New York Daily News, Ryan called out second-year defensive end Quinton Coples for not being fully committed to getting better this offseason.

It's a shame he never called out Sanchez.

Sanchez must have some pretty toasty pictures of Sexy Rexy!!!

Rex drafted him so it's partly his fault.

If not for his play on the field, then definitely for that green headband he was sporting recently.

When a train goes off the rails that bad there's plenty of blame to go around.

Ryan should just call himself out and go! Maybe then we'd have to suffer through fewer Jets threads.

He's probably not pleased with his pedicure regimen.

Jets Jets Jets Jets Jets. Hey, I'm human. I crane my neck to look at accidents as I drive by, just like anybody else. But I DRIVE BY! Eventually I'm well past the wreck and not looking at it anymore. T&R seems to have no such inclination.

Step 1 - Take the player aside and face to face your issues with him.

Step2 - If after a reasonable amount of time ( Not a day in May ) you do not get the results you want, then maybe, maybe, go public.

Note: Every drafted player is an unfinished product. It is the coaches jobs to coach them up in all facets of the game....

Exactly. Seems to me all Rex is doing is adding to the list of reasons no one will ever give him a head coaching job again.

You make ENTIRELY too much sense. The Jets would NEVER go for that.

Stuff runs downhill. They had better all look out.

Rex expected anyone on the Jets to be better during a year of total idiocy??? Why does this guy still have a job? How about giving Coples a reason to progress with a new coach??? Rex has to have an incriminating envelope some where in a post office box!
