Is Ndamukong Suh the most overrated player in the NFL?

04:52 PM ET 05.12 | CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman released his list of the NFL's most overrated players this past week, and Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh topped his list. Between the repeated disciplinary issues and allegations of dirty play, and the fact that other teams have been able to better handle Suh after his massive rookie year, Freeman thinks Suh's name far outshines his actual production and value to the Lions. The lack of a second pass rushing move has hurt him, and some think that's been the genesis for the dirty play.

Suh is over domineering at times, but I guess that maybe his methods are in question...I am not a qualified at rating, but I recognize over payment...

I would say Mark Sanchez is, he is still a quarterback in the NFL....

A 3rd string QB cannot be the most overrated player! And now he isn't even on a roster!

Is Mike Freeman the most overrated reporter at CBS Sports? The question can often be asked...both ways!

Understand something, this guy has an engineering degree and is not stupid. All these shanagigans of his are well planned. He has every intention to be newsworthy and a future Warren Sapp analyst. Stupid he ain't. He understands football lasts only so long but analyst go on forever.

To be overrated, people must first think you are great. Few people thought Tebow or Sanchez were all thar great. Suh was heralded as an All Pro from day one.

May 12, 2013  09:18 PM ET

Suh is a disgusting piece of **** and a ******.

May 12, 2013  09:47 PM ET

I know, and Brett Favre was over rated, The Manning brothers were over rated... seems like anyone has a little patch of mediocre they are suddenly over rated and should be dropped from the rosters. Sports writers and their need to feel superior by ranking people off of personal bias are definitely over rated.

In 2012 Suh ranked second out of all DTs in the NFL with 9.0 sacks and 16 tackles for a loss. For all players in the NFL, Suh was ranked second behind J.J. Watt with 32 QB hits. You can say he is a nasty, dirty player, but he is still a terrific DT, and the stats suggest that he is one of the most disruptive and effective DTs in the league.
Romo, with his big new contract and clutch interception throwing is overrated.

Agree with the 1st part Suh is as polarized a player there is in the NFL but I'd love him to be in the middle of my D-line Romo though he makes some bad INT's is usually running for his life if he wasn't such a good scrambler they would just be a helluva lot more sacks

I hate the Lions and Cowboys, but I say your analysis is bunk, and I may dare say, DUMB. A few of the the QB hits were QB sneaks. Duh, he is supposed to be there. Please tell me you consider those hits the same as a pass play. Suh cannot handle the fact that NFL lineman can handle him, so he does stupid crap that gets him suspended (I have proof of this, you do not).

Dude.

You use stats to "prove" Suh's value and then turn around and say Romo is overrated? Statistically speaking Romo is a great quarterback. "Clutch interception throwing" isn't even a valid cagetory.

Point being if you're gonna defend Suh with stats you can't just ignore Romo's numbers while recklessly tossing opinionated accusations his way.

Not a chance. Nobody rated him in the first place.

Great point. To be overrated, you have to be rated. Lousy players cannot be overrated.

Tony Romo just signed a $108 Million contract with over $50 Million guaranteed. He has ONE playoff victory, (and would have two if he could have held the ball on that FG try in Seattle!), and is well known for two things: 1. Dating pretty girls. 2. Leading the NFL in throwing interceptions at the absolute worst time. Romo is the most overrated. Suh is in the top 5, along with his teammate on the DL, Nick Fairley, (sp) who has done NOTHING since being drafted. Also, based on his contract, I think Peyton Manning is overrated. He is a contemporary of Tom Brady. Brady was a former 6th round pick who has outperformed Peyton in every way. (The career comparison of the two would be further skewed in Brady's favor if not for the two SB losses to Peyton's younger brother!).
