05:05 PM ET 05.12 | The San Francisco 49ers may want running back Marcus Lattimore to sit out the 2013 season so he can concentrate on rehabbing his injured knee, and the rookie from South Carolina said he is willing to do so if the team wants him to. Lattimore is a talented runner, but has dealt with numerous serious knee injuries already in his career. He tore three ligaments in his knee last year, and the injury allowed him to slip into the fourth round of the draft, where the 49ers decided he was worth the risk.

Good mojo. Worth the risk!

It was the general consensus that the 49ers would take Lattimore at #129 but having Quinton Patton drop so far they knew they could still get Lattimore at #131.

This is a great opportunity for him to make sure that he is 100% healthy by 2014.
One year of rehab will give him time to erase the memories of the injury, and build the proper endurance needed in the NFL. I want to see him running with his knees hitting his chest like the way Roger Craig used to run.
One year will give him plenty of time to study tapes and learn the offense and opposing defenses through and through.

Lattimore and James will be a nice duo to replace Gore eventually.

Bank this guy for 2014.

Might as well. They have enough in their backfield that they can afford to stash him on IR for a year and make sure he is 100%.

The 49ers took a chance on Frank Gore and see how well that worked out....it was a good draft move that wlll pay dividends in the future

I think Lattimore was a great pick for the 49ers......if he sits out a year, he should be back to full strength by 2014.

The 49'ers are one talent packed team. It seems this whole organization is firing on all cylinders.

I doubt both will pan out, but one of them should be solid at the least
