05:50 PM ET 05.13 | Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops recently took a shot at the perceived strength and depth of the SEC, arguing that the league's reputation is overblown. Kansas head coach Charlie Weis later said that "based off the numbers, there is validity in what [Stoops] said." The SEC's bottom eight teams were a combined 0-30 against the top six teams, and it is a number like that which has Stoops and Weis thinking the SEC may not be all it's cracked up to be from top to bottom.

LOL, why do you always "put words into everyone's mouth"???? No one said the SEC sucked!!! The article stated, "The SEC's bottom eight teams were a combined 0-30 against the top six teams, and it is a number like that which has "Stoops and Weis", thinking the SEC may not be all it's cracked up to be from top to bottom. Is this true, or are "Stoops and Weis" lying???

Sounds like a lopsided conference.

Yeah it is!!! The top 3/4 teams are much better than the other 8/9 teams!!! Just a fact!!!

isn't that the definition of "better"? what kind of league would have the top teams worse than the other teams?

PDX - Your posts are lacking in intelligence and coherent thought. Why is that? Are you capable of making an intelligent comment?

It's fairly clear that if the bottom teams were 0-30 against it's top teams, then Stoops and Weis are correct in their assessment of the SEC.

May 14, 2013  02:13 AM ET

SEC most overrated conference. A few good cheating teams does not make a good conference.

No, just full of crap. The bottom half of any other conference would have been 0-30 against the SEC if they played the games. As it is, the top 6 of the SEC only played 10 games vs the other major conferences, including bowl games. In those games the SEC was 8-2, losing to the BE #1 and the ACC #2. Total points: SEC 354, others 198. No conference had a good day against the top 6 of the SEC.

The bottom 8 of the SEC may not be that great, but Stoops and Weis need another way to make their point.

May 14, 2013  03:42 AM ET

not much different than the big 2 and the little 8 not so long ago ....... didn't change the fact that the best teams were the best in the nation

May 14, 2013  06:28 AM ET

I think we are missing the point here. Who cares what the fat man says? He is very non-important. Yes, he did lift ND to great heights now didn't he?

May 14, 2013  06:41 AM ET

The fact that two college coaches are wasting time discussing this is proof in and of itself. Perhaps Stoops should spend more time worrying about why his teams always choke at the end of the season.

May 14, 2013  07:09 AM ET

"The bottom 8 teams are 0-30 against top 6 teams" That's not fair. The top 6 teams are ALL SEC teams.

I'm about as anti SEC as it gets. However, despite the fact that the bottom 8 teams stink, the SEC has won the last 4 or 5 championships. You just can't discount that.

But out of conference teams were a combined 9-26 against the bottom 8 teams in the SEC. This is similar to the record out of conference teams had against the entire Big 12 (or whatever it is called now), which was 9-30.
